Man faces jail over Rs 3,000 lease dispute

A man has been jailed for two years for failing to pay a Rs 3.2 lakh lease agreement to a luxury car leasing company.

The Manoj Kumar alias Manoj, who was arrested on November 1 last year, had denied the charges and said the lease was valid.

According to police, Manoj had a private hire vehicle registered to a company called Bajaj Motors.

When the company leased the car, it failed to make payments, and the lease ended on December 20.

A court had ordered the company to pay the amount to the bank, but it did not.

The court also ordered Manoj to pay back the Rs 3 lakh lease on the car within six months.

Manoj, however, refused to pay.

The police registered a case of illegal lease, and Manoj was arrested by the police on December 16.

The man has now been remanded to police custody till February 28.
